New Blog Style

As promised in the March Update, I have changed the blog style to something a bit fresher.  It reads more like a magazine and makes it easier to see earlier posts.

I also changed the site name from “One Year, One Book, Many Men” to “1 Year, 1 Book, Many People” to reflect the diverse nature of our readership.

What are your thoughts?  Comments can be added below.

About plimtuna

I am just an average guy trying to find his way along this journey of life. I am definitely middle aged. I am definitely happily married with a wife and two children. Personally, I have a passion for things eternal. Professionally, I have a passion for things that are securely in control.

I like the new look, but I do have a few suggestions.

    1. When we click archives, we are taken to a page with every single blog ever made. This can be overwhelming, and very hard for people who want to look at a specific title, or want to browse titles to find one that catches their fancy.

    2. Maybe spell out the date of the post for each post or make the font larger? I personally would find that helpful because it gives me a better idea of how fresh it is.

    3. With regards to a solution for #1… I picture archives taking us to a page with this sort of layout ( a list of links):

    1. All Posts
——This takes us to a list of links to each specific blog entry title, making the browsing of titles easy and accessible.
———–At the top of the list you can have a link “see all”
——————“see all” can take us to what archives takes us to now (all the blogs one one massive page)
——-somewhere on the “all posts” page if there was a way for us to chose which ones to see at the top then that’d be sweet. I’m thinking at the top of this “all posts” page you can have links to organize the page like “oldest to newest” and “newest to oldest” or maybe sine sometimes you have reoccurring themes such as ‘ja ja maar’ you can have another link like “group by theme”. I don’t really know about that last one though if that would be helpful or not..

    2. Another link on the main page after archives could be “themes” actually, solving the last suggestion i just mentioned. Themes could also have a “see all” function, along with specific clusters of blogs or whatever.

    3. Now I think that each month should have a link on the main page after archives. “January ’10” “February ’10” etc. and then if we click on one we see all the titles of that month. At this point we can have another see all function and have a page full of all the posts from the month, and also each individual post.

    So what I’m suggesting is;

    Archives
    –All posts
    –Months (List all of them..)
    –Themes

Maybe it sounds more complicated than it needs to be.. but as a frequent internet skimmer, these suggestions could make the site more accessible than it already is. Thanks plimtuna for your ministry, and I hope the advice is useful.

    God Bless

      Keepin it real,

I absolutely see what are saying. You are clicking on the archives button on the top of the page. Checkout the archives button at the bottom of the page. I think you will find what you are looking for.

I also think the date is a bit small. I also don’t like that the photos are so much smaller than the old one.

I will look for a new style later this month.
